GMAT

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardized test used primarily for admissions to graduate business programs, including MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs.

The GMAT consists of four main sections:

1. Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

  • This section requires test-takers to write an essay analyzing an argument. It assesses critical thinking and communication skills.

2. Integrated Reasoning (IR)

  • Tests the ability to analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources, including graphics, charts, and tables. It includes question types such as multi-source reasoning, table analysis, and graphic interpretation.

3. Quantitative Section

  • Measures mathematical skills and understanding of basic concepts. It includes problem-solving and data sufficiency questions, covering arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.

4. Verbal Section

  • Assesses reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction. It tests the ability to read and analyze written material effectively.

Scoring

  • The total GMAT score ranges from 200 to 800, based on the combined scores from the Quantitative and Verbal sections.
  • The AWA is scored separately on a scale of 0 to 6, and the Integrated Reasoning section is scored on a scale of 1 to 8.

Test Duration

  • The total test time is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, including optional breaks.
